This could make your next family holiday a WHOLE lot easier!
Whether you have a 3 hour journey coming up to have lunch with the reli’s or maybe you have a family road trip planned for the up and coming summer, this blog post will help you plan and prepare for a stress-free journey. Spending a bit of time organizing now will make the actual journey go by a lot quicker as it minimizes un-expected issues.
Plan
Lists are the first step in planning, we can guarantee that something will be left behind and god-forbid its that toy that is NEEDED in order to get the kiddies to sleep. List absolutely everything you need, especially things that have to be packed last minute like phone chargers and tooth brushes.
On your list you’ll want first aid items such as paracetamol and a medicine syringe. Along with emergency spew kit! Water, bucket and towel – if your kids are prone to motion sickness or haven’t travelled on winding roads before you will thank us for reminding you to take the necessities!
Nitty gritty planning
When packing, put the items that will be needed first at the top of the bag. For example, PJs, cuddlies, dummy or pacifier – if you have enough boot space give each child their own bag, this will seriously make your life so much easier!
The route
After packing the car up comes the journey itself! Now you want to think through your route, toilet stops, food stops and so on. Schedule to leave just before your childrens usual naptime and lets pray that they sleep for the majority of the trip!
Communicate
Communication is key! Talk the kids through it. Where you are going and why it is going to take so long, after al 3 hours to a toddler feels like 3 years. Remind them constantly of the adventure and let them know when you are half way there.
Good luck from the team at Kiwi Direct!
